At the Boys and Girls Clubs of the North Valley we have many stories to share about how we are changing and saving lives throughout the north state. These are just a few of the many stories we have and we welcome you to submit your own by emailing us at: email@example.com.
Katie Pasilis – 2015 Youth of the Year
The Boys & Girls Club has played a key part in shaping the person I am today. I finally had a place where I felt that I could be the one in control of my life, and there were people there who appreciated me and saw my potential even when I could not see it myself.
Cory Snively – 2002 Youth of the Year
In addition to Youth of the Year, Cory was Torch Club and Keystone President for the Boys & Girls Club of Chico. When we asked Cory about his experience he said, “I still think fondly of my days in the Club and it was always a safe space for me. When I came out and was beat up at school you came to help me when no else in my family would. Thank you for the great work you all do, trust me when I say it makes a difference. It saved me in more ways than I can express, I am successful and alive today because of the Club.”
Shannon Greer – 2016 Oroville Youth of the Year
The truth is they are there every day after school for each member with open doors, arms, and hearts, and that is the true reason we are all here today.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have an amazing family to support me, but The Boys & Girls Club is my family too, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
The Boys & Girls Club is and will always be a positive place for kids! The Boys & Girls Club is a place where all youth are given an opportunity that doesn’t come too often.
I am Vianey Serrano the 2004 youth of the year and I stand here ten years later to share with you how the Boys and Girls Club has changed my life.
In many ways the club defined me during my high school years and has most definitely shaped my life as an adult. I gained confidence, skills and a love for working with children and education that have affected all of my life decisions.
