Arya has made history as our first California State and Pacific Regional Youth of the Year! Beginning as Boys & Girls Clubs of Chico’s Youth of the Year in October 2023, she progressed through local, state, and regional levels, earning the prestigious Pacific Regional title in May. In September, Arya proudly represented us at the National Youth of the Year competition.
Although she didn’t claim the national title, Arya continues to shine as a BGCA ambassador through July 2025. Partnering with Teen Director Emylee, she serves on the National Youth of the Year Speakers Bureau, advocating for critical youth issues and amplifying young voices.
Arya’s success reflects the dedication of our Club staff, volunteers, and programs, which empower thousands of youth annually through academics, wellness, and leadership development. Her journey underscores the transformative power of mentorship and opportunity, equipping young leaders with confidence, skills, and connections to thrive.
This year, Arya served as Grand Marshal of Chico’s 4th of July Parade and attended the Keystone Leadership Conference in Atlanta. She worked as a Recreation Aide at the Chico Ostrander ClubHouse and our summer camp – Camp Jamoa, co-facilitated the SMART Girls program, and inspired youth as a mentor and advocate.
In December, Arya had the extraordinary honor of visiting the White House, meeting President Joe Biden, toured the White House, and met with the Secretary of the Department of Education. This summer she advocatied for us in DC! Boys & Girls Clubs of America sent Arya to the Summit for America’s Youth, where she reunited with fellow National Youth of the Year finalists and joined nearly 500 Club advocates – including 350+ youth from 78 Clubs across 34 states and DC!
From presenting advocacy projects to meeting with congressional leaders, Arya raised her voice to urge the release of critical federal funding that’s already been approved — including one of our longstanding grants, the OJP Mentoring grant. And that’s just for 2025 — we’ll have to advocate again for 2026.
Arya is currently pursing her dreams at Cal Poly Pomona living in the dorms and going to school as a full-time student thanks to the support of local donors and all the college scholarships she was able to receive through this experience as Regional Youth of the Year. October of 2025 she went to the Panda Express Cares Golf Invitational Dinner & Auction in Palm Springs to speak and share about her Club experience. We are so proud of her!
Arya’s Words:
“The Boys and Girls Club is not just an after school program, it’s a community where youth are given tools to find their voices and are given a platform to speak up about topics they are passionate about.”
Join us in helping Arya soar further by contributing or spreading the word. Together, we can help her achieve her dreams and inspire countless others.
