The Club – Boys & Girls Club of Butte County Juvenile Hall

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley, our Juvenile Hall program provides consistent, relationship-driven support for youth during custody and as they transition back into the community. In partnership with Butte County Probation, Juvenile Hall staff, and the TMS school team, we deliver year-round programming, mentorship, and reentry support designed to help youth build confidence, stability, and a path forward.

This program is one of only thirteen nationwide operating inside a juvenile detention facility—offering daily access to trusted mentors, skill-building opportunities, and real-world experiences that extend beyond the walls of the hall.

What Youth Experience

  • Daily programming across five core areas: Character & Leadership, Education & Career Development, The Arts, Sports & Recreation, and Health & Wellness
  • Financial literacy through programs like Money Matters
  • STEM, creative arts, and hands-on learning
  • Leadership development through Leaders in Training (L.I.T.)
  • Physical activity and wellness through Triple Play

Our program also provides direct case management, service learning, community service, and work experience opportunities for youth. In addition, BGCNV serves as the diversion and restorative justice program partner for the Butte County Probation Department.

Beyond the Hall

Youth are supported from intake through probation completion, with continued access to trusted mentors. The program also provides reentry support through a transition closet, food pantry, and case management services that help youth and families navigate challenges and stay connected to community resources. To support successful transitions from juvenile hall back into the community, the Club has purchased essential furniture for youth and their familes, provided bicycles to improve transportation access, and created opportunities for community service and job-readiness experiences. Eligible youth are also granted memberships to any of community our teen centers, where they can continue to access positive activities, supportive relationships, and ongoing resources that promote long-term success.
