2002 Youth of the Year | Torch Club & Keystone Club President

In addition to being named the 2002 Youth of the Year, Cory was a standout leader at the Boys & Girls Club of Chico, serving as both Torch Club President and Keystone Club President. Known for his dedication, character, and commitment to others, Cory exemplified what it means to lead by example.

Reflecting on his time at the Club, Cory shared:

“I still think fondly of my days at the Club. It was always a safe place for me. When I came out and was beaten up at school, the Club staff stepped in to support me when no one else in my family would. Thank you for the great work you do. Trust me when I say it makes a difference. The Club saved me in more ways than I can express. I am successful and alive today because of the Club.”

Cory’s story is a powerful reminder that the Boys & Girls Club is more than a place to go after school. For many young people, it’s a source of safety, support, belonging, and hope during life’s most difficult moments.
