Volunteers are a very important part of our team, and help us reach our mission. The dedication of our volunteers provides our members with valuable mentoring relationships and guide, encourage and significantly enhance their quality of life!

If you are interested in inspiring, motivating, and impacting the young people in our community, then the Boys & Girls Club is the place for you! Depending on your location we offer volunteer opportunities in Chico, Hamilton City, Paradise, Magalia, and Oroville in the areas of tutoring, mentoring, coaching, special events, programming assistance, administrative support and more!

Volunteer Options for Individuals, Groups or Businesses:

  • Daily or regular club volunteering in existing programs and activities.
  • Offering a special skill or program for the youth.
  • Providing a special service such: as club clean up, handiwork, janitorial, technology, mailers.
  • Club event volunteers: thanksgiving, birthday parties, banquets & celebrations.
  • Club fundraising volunteers: Valentines Gala, community events, etc…
  • Corporate volunteer matching programs. Does your company have one?
  • Office support.

Becoming a Volunteer:

1st:  Request, complete and turn in a volunteer application.

2nd:  Set up a volunteer interview, attend a volunteer orientation to find out about our policies, approach to youth development and areas to volunteer within each Club.

3rd:  Pass a DOJ/FBI background check.

4th:  Attend a mandatory volunteer orientation.

*If you or your group are only volunteering for a one time event or special fundraising event you may not be subject to a background check.

Volunteer Opportunities:

General Volunteer – Working in our Club Houses and Teen Centers with youth on a weekly basis. We are always looking for tutors, homework helpers, games room attendants and sport enthusiasts who can help to enrich the programs we run.

Foster Grandparent Program – Through an ongoing partnership with Passages retired individuals may even qualify for a regular meal and a small stipend through regular volunteer duty.

College Student Internships and Volunteering – Through Chico State and Butte College a variety of internship opportunities are available that meet department requirements and credit eligibility.

Skill Based Volunteers – People with the skills, knowledge and abilities to support Club operations. These volunteers may support by being a board member, coach, referee, musical instructor, foreign language tutor, dance teacher, and yoga instructor etc.

Youth Volunteers – We have various teenage volunteer positions through our Teen Center programs such as Leaders in Training (LIT), Counselors in Training (CIT), senior projects and community service assignments. Call your local Teen Center for more information.
