Public Safety Power Shutoff – BGCNV Fast Facts

Our number one priority and core value is the safety and well-being of the young people we serve. If a public safety power shutoff happens, they will typically occur with advanced notice, though in the event they happen during our hours of operation our response will be:

  • BGCNV Club staff will notify families by phone. Parents and guardians may use the numbers below to contact their child’s program site.
    • Chico Clubhouse (530) 899-0335

    • Paradise Ridge Elementary (530) 519-0156
    • Pine Ridge (530) 519-2428
    • Paradise Intermediate (530) 815-9410

    • Las Plumas High School Teen Center (530) 720-5508
    • Hamilton Elementary  (530) 720-9092
  • If a power shutoff happens within the course of our program day and extends for longer than two hours, parents/guardians will be notified to pick up their child from the program. Parents/guardians are expected to pick their child up within two hours of notification or as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Contact information provided on membership forms will be utilized to ensure that BGCNV has the most current parent/guardian contact number(s) available.
  • In the event that parents are unable to pick up their child, Boys & Girls Club members will be relocated to our Chico Ostrander Clubhouse location (601 Wall Street, Chico CA 95928) until they can be picked up.
  • If the power is out for more than two hours, the program site that is affected will remain closed until power is restored at that location.
  • If the power shutoff happens during a field trip, members will be transported back to their program site to resume their day;
    • If the power shutoff affects their program site as well, parents and guardians will be notified to pick up their child.
    • In the event that parents are unable to pick up their child, Boys & Girls Club members will be transported to our Chico Ostrander Clubhouse location until they can be picked up.
  • In the event of an emergency or safety advisory that affects your child’s program site, your child will be evacuated to another location.
  • In most cases, that evacuation location will be the Chico Ostrander Clubhouse, though in the event that the location needs to be diverted due to safety reasons, Club staff will contact parents/guardians alerting them of the alternate pick-up location and time.
  • Site updates regarding the status of the power outage and affected sites will be available on our BGCNV Facebook homepage.

Paradise Location(s)

  • If a power shutoff happens within the course of our program day and extends for longer than two hours, parents/guardians will be notified to pick up their child from the program within two hours of notification or as soon as reasonably possible. Parents/guardians are expected to pick their child up within two hours of notification or as soon as reasonably possible.

  • If the power is out for more than two hours, or extends to the following day, barring any safety advisories affecting the site location, the Chico program sites will remain open for the current business day, and two business days thereafter.
    • The site status will be reassessed daily and will remain open if deemed safe for operation.
  • If the power shutoff happens during a field trip, members will be transported back to their program site to resume their program day.
  • In the event of an emergency or safety advisory that affects your child’s program site, your child will be evacuated to another location. In most cases, that location with be the Chico Ostrander Clubhouse, though in the event that the location needs to be diverted due to safety reasons, Club staff will contact parents/guardians alerting them of the alternate pick-up location and time.
