When the Boys & Girls Club movement began in Chico, it was grassroots – fifty people from all walks of life united to make the community better for children. Among them was Maureen Kirk. Thoughtful and respectful, she listened carefully, and when she spoke, her words carried balance and care. Soon, people recognized her as someone they could trust – always present, whether at a car wash or a community outreach event.
Maureen gave generously of her time, talents, and treasures. As she moved on to serve on the Chico City Council and the Butte County Board of Supervisors, she remained a steadfast supporter of the Boys & Girls Club. Whenever called upon, she responded with dedication and kindness, continuing her lifelong commitment to our kids and Clubs. Maureen’s life reflected grace, trust, service, and compassion. Our community has been uplifted by her dedication and we are grateful to her family for sharing her with us.
To donate in Maureen’s memory and continue her legacy of supporting Chico’s children through the Boys & Girls Club, please consider making a gift that will help fund youth programs and provide scholarships for local kids who need them most.
We also welcome you to comment and share a note in honor of Maureen. Your words will be shared with her family as a lasting tribute.
